Who We Are
Jeremy (that’s me!) is the narrator/reviewer, and I will from time to time just name people without introducing so as to avoid verbal clutter. Names you’ll see often: Luis, my partner of many years; Yury, an old friend from Miami who now lives up here; and Tony, a new friend I made since moving to New York.
Jeremy is a late 20s web editor who recently moved to Bushwick, but makes the ride once a week to have coffee with…Mario, a late 50s professor at NYU who has lived in Manhattan all his life. We are two New Yorkers who, instead of bar hopping by night, café hop by day. We hit around 2-3 cafes a week, and feel there is a dearth of information about New York cafés, from product quality to service to ambience. At least, a dearth of our opinions on the subject.
From the intro blurb: “Mario and I were sitting in the small back room of a Soho patisserie the other day, critiquing the croissant we were sharing, when I blurted out: “We should do a café review blog.” He said something like “uh-huh, sure.” The thing is, once a week we go to at least two, many times three, and sometimes four different places to get coffee and maybe a pastry, and an occasional lunch. We café hop. I’m not sure there are very many people who have been to as many cafés in their whole lives as we go to in three months. So why not share what we find? And here we are.”
Enjoy!
